23 Sep 2008 DUFFNER & KIMBERLY LAMPS SELLS FOR $16,500
  A Duffner & Kimberly leaded glass lamp closed at $16,500 in S&S Auction's August Quality Sale on Aug. 25th. Over 2600 uncatalogued were offered in addition to the 328 catalogued items. Other highlights included an ebonized demilune desk $15,500, antique Italian commode $10,000, Eugeny Lansere Russian bronze $8,500, Tiffany lamp base $7,500, J.C. Thom painting $4,750, Hans Wegner chair $4,000 and a Emmanuel Villanis bust $3,300. S&S next quality sale is scheduled for Oct. 20th. Consignments are now being accepted.

21 May 2008 CAMPBELL PAINTING TOPS SALE AT $20,000
  Topping the sale at S&S Auction's May Quality Sale was a painting of a snow covered Philadelphia street with American flags by Laurence A. Campbell at $20,000. Snowy cityscapes are the most sought after paintings by Mr. Campbell. Another smaller painting by the artist of a Philadelphia harbor scene sold at $4,750. Other highlights included a marble sculpture by F. Vichi $10,500, pr. 45" Oriental palace vaes $8,500, Jansen ebonized dining table $6,500 and a modern rosewood dining set $4,400. S&S holds bi-weekly sales every other Monday with catalogued Quality Sales every 2-3 months. Next regularly scheduled sale is June 2nd. Consignments accepted daily.

07 May 2008 RUSSIAN PAINTING SELLS FOR $50,000
  Topping the sale at S&S Auction's April Quality Sale was a painting of a harem girl by Russian artist Vincent G. Stiepevich realizing $50,000. Russian art was also represented by an 8" bronze sculpture by Eugeny Lansere which hammered at $8,500. Other highlights included a pair of Jansen library tables $11,500, a Duchoiselle bronze $5,000 and a set of 12 Jansen dining chairs $6,500. S&S plans their next Quality Sale for May 19th. Consignments are now being accepted.

29 Feb 2008 ESTEBAN VICENTE COLLAGE BRINGS $18,000
  S&S Auction held their February Quality sale on Feb. 25 to a turnout of 504 registered live, phone and internet bidders. Over 2200 lots were offered including 279 catalogued lots. Topping the sale was a collage by Esteban Vicente from a collection of art from a New York estate at $18,000. Other artworks included paintings by Marc Klionsky $5,500, two by Balcomb Greene, $5,500 and $4,250, unsigned New York street scene $8,500, William Mulready Irish painting $4,000 and a Chagall etching $2,500. Furniture highlights included an ebonized dining table $15,000, Linke salon set $18,000, R.J. Horner figural bookcase $8,500, and an eglomise mirrored vanity $7,500.

02 Nov 2007 OCTOBER PRICES STRONG AT S&S EXTRAVAGANZA
  S&S Auction held their annual Extravaganza Auction on October 22 with a fine selection of high end merchandise. Top lots included a Francois Linke vitrine $32,500, Linke salon set $22,500, bronze mounted commode $15,000, George Nakashima coffee table $11,500, Luigi Guglielmi marble sculpture $9,000. A large collection of Maison Jansen items made a strong showing with a bronze mounted dining table leading the way at $13,500. S&S plans their next quality sale for Dec. 3rd. Consignments are now being accepted.

05 Sep 2007 AUGUST QUALITY SALE HEATS UP
  S&S Auction's August Quality Sale was held on August 27 with a great turnout. Over 2500 lots were offered with 290 catalog lots being offered online. Bidding was active with most of the best catalogued lots selling to the phones. Highlights were a bronze mounted commode $25,000, 1940's marbletop console table $25,000, 13 ft. mahogany dining table $19,000, figural carved library table $9,000, ebonized marbletop commode $9,000, figural marble fountain $4,000, French vitrine $5,000 and a pair of Martha Walter paintings $5,250 & $4,750. S&S plans their next Quality Sale for October. Consignments are now being accepted.

05 Dec 2006 TIFFANY CLOCK CHIMES IN AT $19,000
  On Dec. 4th, S&S Auction held their December Quality Sale to a crowd of 400+ live bidders and another 160+ internet bidders. Offering over 3000 lots with a selection of 138 catalogued lots being offered online. Highlights of the sale were a Tiffany & Co. grandfather clock bringing $19,000 and a Arthur Waagen bronze finishing at $14,000. Other highlights included an R.J. Horner china cabinet $8,000, Yamaha piano $6,000, Belter rosewood meridian $5,500, 40" neoclassical bronze $4,000, 2 pc. figural carved parlor set $4,000, Victorian inlaid cabinet $3,500 and a 12" sterling horse and rider $3,250.

11 May 2006 S&S AUCTION FEBRUARY ESTATES SALE A HUGE SUCCESS
  S&S Auction reports their February estates sale to be one of their best ever. Over 3200 lots were offered to 650 plus registered bidders. Among the top lots were a figural carved sideboard $15,500, Alfred Barye bronze clock $9,500, Victorian highback bed $9,500, 3 pc. malachite clock set $9,000, Tiffany & Co. grandfather clock $9,000, Edward J. Cobbett painting $6,500, Schmeig & Kotzian table $6,500, Adams figural sofa $5,000 and an architectural carved griffin. 06 Sep 2005 S & S AUGUST EXTRAVAGANZA ACHEIVES OUTSTANDING RESULTS
  20th century furniture makes another strong showing at S & S Auction's August Extravaganza with George Nakashima again taking center stage. Among the highlights by Nakashima were a Kent Hall floor lamp $21,000, 7" bench $14,000, pr. lounge chairs $12,000 and a free arm settee $10,000. Also coming out strong was Paul Frankl including 2 skyscraper bookcases $5,000 and $3,750, vanity $4,500 and a cabinet $4,500. Other highlights, George Jensen pitcher $6,000, Elliott London clock $13,000, pr. Anna Heyward Taylor blockprints $9,000, Victorian parlor cabinet $9,000, French commode $7,000 and a Nathan Margolis sideboard $7,750.

  S & S Auction held a special Antique & Estate Sale with George Nakashima making another strong showing with top lots including a console table $15,000, sliding door cabinet $13,000, comb back bench $13,000, coffee table $10,000, rocker $4,000 and a conoid chair $4,000. Top antique lots included 12 pc. French bedroom $13,000, Penna. tiger maple chest $7,000, Arts & Crafts stand $9,500, marble garden statue $6,000, Crown Derby dish set $5,500, Adams commode $4,500 and a Kittinger sideboard $4,000.

24 Mar 2005 S & S SELLS NAKASHIMA TABLE & CHAIRS FOR $48,000
  S & S Auction held their Annual March Extravaganza sale with tremendous success. With 660 registered bidders bidding on over 4600 lots, this was their most successful sale to date. Topping the sale was a George Nakashima table & chairs realizing $11,500 and $36,500 respectively excluding buyer's premium. Other highlights included a pair of L &J.G. Stickley bookcase $14,500, Gothic bedroom set $10,500, rare Ansonia figural clock $6,000, antique George side table $6,500, G.G. Drayton illustration $4,000, F.D. Briscoe small painting $3,750, Elliot London clock $5,250 and a Tiffany lamp base $4,500.

20 Oct 2004 S&S AUCTION SELLS BLACK FOREST CLOCK $24,000
  S & S Auction held their Fall Extravaganza Sale on Oct. 19 with a large turnout. The highlight of the sale was a Black Forest grandfather clock which realized $24,000. Other highlights included a 12 pc. oak dining room set $12,000, Kirman rug $4,700, Pierre Hode painting $7,000, Edmund Berninger painting $6,500, Galle 6" vase $3,250, antique French commode $7,000, MT bedroom set $6,000, Tiffany tall case clock $4,500, Steinway piano $7,000, Handel 7" lamp $2,500, Blackamoor armchair $4,000 and a large modern sculpture $2,600.

22 Sep 2004 NAKASHIMA COFFEE TABLE BRINGS $15,500
  S & S Auction held another Special Quality Sale on Aug.24 with an excellent turnout. Included in the sale was a George Nakashima coffee table which realized $15,500 topping their previous Nakashima table sold in 2003 for $13,500. Other highlights included an oak grandfathers clock $22,000, oak DRS $9,750, leaded glass shade $8,000, pr. Adams commodes $6,750, French table & 18 chairs $5,300, Wallace sterling flatware $5,250, Aubusson parlor set $5,750, Oriental rugs $5,000 & $4,500. Modern design highlights included Dunbar desk $2,300, rock quartz lamp $1,700, Dunbar bench $1,000 and Bernini desk $1,000. The next Quality sale is scheduled for Oct. 19th.

07 May 2004 ALLEN & BROTHER CREDENZA REALIZES $21,000
  S & S Auction hosted a special Antiques and Estate Auction on May 4th featuring the Estate of Kippee Palumbo of Merion. The premier lots in the sale were an Allen & Brother credenza $21,000 and a bronze mounted French clock from the Palumbo estate $15,000. Other highlights included a 13 pc. Regency dining set $11,000, 12 pc. Centennial dining set $11,950, figural carved bookcase $6,500, pr. figural carved armchairs $5,000, large Waterbury wall clock $4,000, French armoire $4,000, Tiffany flatware set $3,000.

04 Apr 2004 S & S SELLS WESTCHILOFF PAINTING FOR $22,500
  S & S Auction held their semi-annual Extravaganza sale on March 23rd. The sale had a great turnout making it their most successful sale to date. The sale featured items from the Herbert Ward estate as well as art and antiques from other local estates. Highlights included Constantin Westchiloff painting $22,500, Tiffany grandfather clock $22,000, Aloysius O'Kelly painting $15,000, Allen & Brother music cabinet $14,500, 13 pc. Gorham tea set $15,200, Caesare Ricciardi painting $5,250, David Johnson painting$8,000.

27 Aug 2003 S & S SELLS PABST VANITY FOR $22,000
  In their first ever 2 day auction, S & S reports an exceptionally successful sale with over 750 registered buyers. Highlights included a Victorian vanity attributed to Daniel Pabst for $22,000; Gustav Stickley cabinet $10,000; marble garden chair $12,000; Steinway baby grand piano $9,500; Kashan rug $6,500; paintings by Charles Warren Eaton $4,800 and Joseph Israels $9,000: collection of sterling including a trumpet vase $3,000 and nouveau bowl $2,300. Over 5,400 diverse lots were offered over the 2 days making this their biggest sale ever.

27 May 2003 S & S SELLS GEORGE NAKASHIMA TABLE FOR $13,500.
  S & S Auction held their first 20th Century Design sale on May 6th. Highlights included a George Nakashima coffee table for $13,500 and chair for $6,500 and a George Nelson dining room set for $3,500. Over 300 lots were offered in addition to their bi-weekly sale. The sale was well attended with almost 500 registered buyers including many new buyers seeking modern furnishings. After the success of this sale, S & S plans to hold another 20th Century sale in the fall. Other prices include Eero Arnio pedestal chair $800, Gilbert Rhode chests $1300, 3 Bertoia chairs $825, Dunbar headboard $1,500, pr. Dunbar chairs $1,200, Norman Carton painting $2,500, pr.
